- Cars and motorcycles to lose control and get out of your line of travel.
- Can cause tyre to puncture.
- Can bend rims resulting in lose of air and subsequent mishap.
- Can cause riders to fall
All the above if severe enough can result in a fatal mishap.
Road authorities including the Public Works Department, the state authorities on roads and local council MUST ensure that potholes are immediately filled. Why are potholes not filled immediately, you may ask. Simple. If there is one pothole in town A for example. The local authority will find it difficult cover this pot hole as they will have to order a lorry load of premix if they want to patch up the hole. Then what about the remaining premix. It will harden and most of the time left on road sides. The other alternative is not to patch up immediately but to wait for enough holes to appear. In the meantime hundreds of cars/bikes will get bent rims or in the worse case end up in hospital.
